The outage is centered in the southern Miami Valley and affecting 19,084 according to the outage map.
Utility companies Thursday prepared to respond to windy weather, part of an already busy weather season.
“Really all of Ohio has seen a lot of wind in the past year and it looks like we are going to see some more tonight we are going to be ready for that,” South Central Power Company’s Mark Owen said.
The NWS also warned about possible power outages. Customers of energy providers in Ohio such as AEP, First Energy, Duke Energy, and AES Ohio are currently experiencing blackouts as a result of the storm.
The U.S. has faced several severe weather events as storms and tornados hit numerous states over the past couple of weeks, especially in the southern states which have experienced extensive damage. There are currently more than 26,000 customers without power in Alabama, while Georgia is experiencing more than 22,000 outages.
However, Ohio is currently the state with the most outages, with more than 46,000 AEP, First Energy, Duke Energy, and AES Ohio customers affected.
There are currently 3,506 AEP customer outages in Ohio. The counties with the highest number of outages are Scioto with 950, Franklin with 677, and Richland with 397.
On Thursday, AEP Ohio said on Twitter: “Now is the time to prepare so that you can stay informed. High winds and severe thunderstorms are expected through the night. Get updates sent to your phone if an outage occurs.”
There are 12,206 First Energy power outages in Ohio at the time of writing. On Thursday, First Energy said: “Our crews are on standby + ready to respond should outages occur,” and shared safety advice on Twitter.
Power Outage US reports that the county experiencing the highest number of outages is Lucas with more than 11,000.
UPDATE: 5:22 AM: A tree on Rambling Wood Lane at Clyo Road in Centerville is leaning onto power lines in the area. As you can see in the photo, power is still on in that area.

UPDATE: 4:33 AM: Police have Social Row Road blocked in Washington Township as a power line in lying across the roadway. AES Ohio reports more than 16,000 customers are without power Friday morning.
Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Jamie Jarosik said winds will continue to gust up to 60 mph until 6 or 7 Friday morning. The rest of the day will be breezy and mostly cloudy with cooler temps than Thursday. The high will be around 55 degrees.
As of 4:30 a.m., AES Ohio reported more than 16,000 outages as winds continue to wreak havoc on power lines. That number jumped from 5,500 in the early morning hours.
2:36 AM UPDATE: A tree fell onto the roadway of the 500 block of Linden Ave. around 1 a.m. Traffic was light in the area at the time and Miamisburg city crews arrived to clear the debris out of the roadway around 2 a.m.
