In delivering a customer-first care experience nationwide, Samsung Electronics America announced that Galaxy device owners can make their own repairs to the Galaxy S20 and S21 family of products, as well as the Galaxy Tab S7+, starting August 2nd.

Samsung is collaborating with iFixit, the leading online repair community, to deliver their Self-Repair program. This program complements Samsung’s continued expansions for convenient repair for consumers and reinforces Samsung’s commitment to empowering consumers with sustainable solutions to support a more circular economy by extending the life of their devices.

Samsung consumers who wish to make their own repairs can now purchase genuine device parts and convenient, easy-to-use repair tools, available through iFixitSamsung 837 and Samsung retail and service locations, at the same pricing offered to our affiliated repair providers. In addition, Galaxy device owners will have full access to online repair guides that are designed to be helpful and instructive, providing both visual and written step-by-step instructions, and best of all, at no cost. Consumers can also connect with iFixit’s community forum to ask any questions to help them better understand specific actions necessary to complete a self-repair on their Galaxy devices.

“Samsung is continually offering more convenient options for consumers to extend the use of their devices, promote a circular economy, and minimize e-waste. Samsung Self-Repair is another way for customers to prolong the life of their devices, before they are recycled,” said Mark Williams, Vice President of Customer Care at Samsung Electronics America.

“Making replacement parts available is a key sustainability strategy. We’re excited to be working directly with Samsung and their customers to extend the lifetime of their phones,” said Kyle Wiens, Co-founder and CEO of iFixit.

Starting today, Galaxy device owners can replace the phone screen¹, back glass, and charging ports. In the future, Samsung plans to expand self-repair to include more devices and repair options from our extensive product portfolio.

Furthermore, the program makes it easy for consumers to return their discarded parts for responsible recycling, as the new display kits will come with a return label to ship discarded parts back to Samsung — at no cost to the consumer.

Expansive Network of Customer-First Care Options

In addition to the convenience of these new self-repair options, Galaxy smartphone owners have a choice on how they can extend the life of their devices across Samsung’s expansive care options, including:

  • In-person, Same Day Service: Samsung has a robust network of same-day service, covering more than 80% of the United States population, where consumers can access more than 2,000 locations for mobile product repair with a typical repair time of two hours or less. Available through our Authorized Service Centers and Samsung service locations, consumers have the peace of mind of knowing any repair is backed by Samsung — with Samsung-certified pros, genuine parts, and includes all in-warranty and out-of-warranty services. In addition to same-day support at over 700 UBreakiFix locations, Samsung Authorized Care service has now expanded to over 250 Best Buy stores nationwide offering Galaxy device owners greater access to same-day support.
  • We Come To You Service: Samsung also has over 550 ‘We Come To You’ vans offering in-person service within a 30-60 minute drive. Samsung will visit customers directly for repairs, saving them time and making it more convenient to receive in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair services.
  • Mail-In Service: Samsung provides nationwide coverage across all 50 states to all mobile customers to get a repair performed via our Mail-In process. Samsung will ship customers an eco-conscious empty box² to package their phone and schedule at-home pick-up for free via Samsung’s Mail-In Service or drop off their package at a local UPS store. Gain peace of mind knowing you are sending your repair directly to Samsung anywhere in the USA using UPS as our courier.
  • Independent Service Providers (ISP): Samsung’s ISP network is yet another option available to Samsung customers that delivers same-day service, Wireless Industry Service Excellence (WISE) certified locations, trained technicians, Samsung genuine parts, and extensive out-of-warranty services. Small business owners interested in becoming an ISP can apply at https://isaq.samsungsupport.com/isp.

Through Samsung’s robust care network, customers have access to over 11,000 Samsung Mobile certified repair technicians in the U.S.

Samsung has a long history of demonstrating customer-first experiences, providing sustainable solutions and encouraging people to join us in making everyday changes that have a meaningful impact.
