By 7:01 a.m, the unconventional shoe went out of stock on the Adidas app and Yeezysupply.com. It’s now already being offered on the resale market for upwards of $900.
The bizarre cloud-like sneakers made by Adidas, flew off the shelves after they were released yesterday. The shoes retailed at $US200 but have already popped up on resale sites such as eBay for more than $US950.
Despite being met with wide criticism and ridicule when West first was spotted wearing the oddly shaped sneakers on the streets of Paris during Fashion Week, the Yeezy brand remains in high-demand.
“Release @ 7am, sold out by 7:01. People was hating on this shoe all year, but never keep the same energy on release day #yeezy450,” one user tweeted.
This long-awaited drop is among the nine styles Adidas will release from its Yeezy line over the month. Last week, on Feb. 27, the re-issued Yeezy QNTM BSKTBL “Quantum” model kicked off the series of new launches. They initially retailed for $250.
While some users remained unconvinced at the popularity of the shoe.
“I’m convinced they only made like 5 pairs because no way a ton of people are buying anything this ugly,” another wrote.
The sneakers are among nine different styles that will be released through the Yeezy line this month.
Next week, the “Covellite” Yeezy Boost 380, the “Sea Teal” Yeezy QNTM and the “Ash Pearl” Yeezy Boost 350 V2 are set to be available to the public. Their release dates are March 15, March 19 and March 20, respectively, with retail prices ranging between $220 and $250. On March 26, the Yeezy Foam RNNR is set to release in the “Sand” and “MXT Moon Gray” colorways for $80. The following day, on March 27, the Yeezy 700 V3 “Kyanite” will be available to the public for $220.
West has yet to comment on the footwear sell-out, having been inactive on Twitter and Instagram since November last year.
Kardashian filed for divorce from the troubled rapper last month after seven years of marriage.
The couple’s already unconventional relationship became strained last year when West, who suffers from bipolar disorder, ran an unsuccessful campaign marked by erratic statements to be elected US president under his self-styled Birthday Party.
Kardashian in July released a statement urging compassion for West’s mental heath struggles after he swiftly deleted a tweet in which he said he had been trying to divorce her for months.
The couple appeared to grow further apart, with the 21-time Grammy winner spending most of his time at his ranch in Wyoming, and Kardashian remaining in their Calabasas mansion outside Los Angeles. Kardashian and West are reported to be billionaires.
