At least three have been killed and six injured in a stabbing at a nursery in China.

Police in Jiangxi published news of the incident on China’s Twitter-like Weibo platform this morning.

A “gangster” wearing a peaked cap and a mask stormed the private kindergarten in Anfu County, the post reads.

Once inside the armed man killed three and left six injured.

The ages of the victims have not yet been confirmed.

Officials released the name of their initial suspect – a 48-year-old local man called Liu Mouhui.

In unconfirmed videos of the scene shared on social media, a police officer can be seen carrying a tiny child in his arms from a partol car to an ambulance.

In April last year, a knife-wielding man broke into a school in the city of Beiliu, a city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.

The 24-year-old man was seized by cops and only his surname, Zeng, was released by police.

Reports said at least 39 pupils and two staff members, including the headteacher, at the school in Wuzhou in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were injured in June 2020.

According to reports, a security guard was suspected of carrying out the attack, having been arrested at the scene.

The incident took place at about 8.30am local-time at the Wangfu Town Central Primary School and many of the children were pre-schoolers, reports the South China Morning Post.

Chinese media clips show medics tending to children wearing bandages on their heads and bodies following the attack.

One of the parents waiting anxiously at the gates for their children told the news site that many of the children injured were from a preschool class, and were aged about six.

The parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “Around 8.30am, I heard loud screams and cries from the school, as I live nearby.

“I rushed to the school and saw some of pupils running out.
