Grocer received top marks for health and safety measures in response to the pandemic.

Ipsos polled 2,000 Americans to learn which practices they considered most important, then mystery-shopped stores across 45 major U.S. retailers to determine which were acting most in line with customer expectations—visiting a random sampling of 125 locations for each company. According to the study, Whole Foods Market performed better than all other retailers surveyed across the most important safety measures identified by customers.

From the beginning of this crisis the company has been committed to ensuring the ongoing health and well-being of Whole Foods Market Team Members, customers, and communities. Early on the grocer quickly shifted store operations to uphold that commitment, including reducing store hours for increased sanitation practices on top of standard, stringent protocols, enforcing social distancing guidelines, and more.

This Ipsos study comes on the heels of another recent survey from Magid, which found Amazon to be the food retailer with the most favorable response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Whole Foods Market Team Members who care so deeply for their communities and showed remarkable dedication during this incredibly challenging time.
