West Ham have been in magnificent form in recent weeks, emerging from a horrible four fixture run against Leicester, Wolves, Tottenham and Manchester City with two wins and two draws.

Liverpool have shown signs of clicking into gear after an iffy start to the season, winning their last three games in all competitions, including a 2-0 victory over Midtjylland in the Champions League in midweek.

Liverpool injury list and return dates: Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk

Fabinho

Fabinho became the latest victim of Liverpool’s mounting injury problems when he pulled up in the first half of the win over Midtjylland with a hamstring problem.

Scans have since taken place and Liverpool look set to be without the midfielder, who has been performing well as an emergency centre-back for the Reds, until after the international break.

Klopp has confirmed that Fabinho should be fine to return after the international break.

Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool will be without Virgil van Dijk for the majority of the season at the very least after he sustained a serious ACL injury against Everton.

The Reds’ inspirational centre-back was caught by a horror challenge from Jordan Pickford and underwent successful surgery in London this week.

Liverpool are reluctant to put a timeframe on it but the Reds defender might not play against this season.

Thiago Alcantara

Midfielder Thiago Alcantara was also injured in the derby after finding himself on the receiving end of a wild lunge from Richarlison, for which the Everton forward was sent off.

There had been initial fears that the summer signing’s injury was serious, but a scan gave the Reds positive news and the Spaniard was pictured training alone before the Midtjylland game.

However doubts remain as to whether he’ll be available for West Ham, with Klopp admitting he was unsure whether Thiago would be available for the Hammers.

Naby Keita

Keita has been missed with an unspecified injury since the last international break.

Klopp confirmed that, like Thiago, he would check on the midfielder’s fitness before the West Ham game.

Joel Matip

Joel Matip played 90 minutes of the Merseyside derby, making his comeback from injury against the Blues.

But the Cameroon defender was sidelined yet again after picking up a problem at Goodison Park.

He has since missed the following three games and also looks set to sit out the West Ham game. Liverpool will hope to have him fit before the international break with key games away at Atalanta and Man City looming.

The centre-back has featured for just 165 minutes in the Premier League in the last 11 months after a succession of injury problems.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The 27-year-old was involved in a challenge during training while in Austria when the incident occurred and Jurgen Klopp explained it looked like a similar injury to the one captain Jordan Henderson suffered toward the end of last season against Brighton.

He returned to Melwood for rehabilitation with club medical staff. The midfielder has had bad luck with injuries during his Liverpool career and fans will hope the latest won’t keep him out for much longer.

Kostas Tsimikas

New signing Kostas Tsimikas was expected to return to training recently following a thigh problem.

But it appears as though the Greek international is yet to make his comeback and the Reds will hope he’s ready before the international break.

The Greek left-back suffered a thigh injury after making his full debut in the win over Lincoln in the EFL Cup.
