With nearly two decades of presence in Georgia, Nestlé continues to reinforce its reputation as a trusted provider of high-quality nutrition for infants and young children. The company has built strong consumer confidence by adhering to international standards, investing in scientific expertise and offering a diverse portfolio tailored to local needs. This commitment has once again been recognized, as Nestlé was named the No. 1 Golden Brand in the “Children’s Nutrition” category.
On this occasion, we sat down with Dmitry Alekseenko, Country Business Manager Caucasus and General Director of Nestlé Georgia, to discuss the brand’s success in the country and its long-term vision for the Georgian market.
Q. Nestlé has once again been named the No1 Golden Brand in the Children’s Nutrition category. What does this recognition from Georgian consumers mean for the company?
A. Nestlé is honored to once again be recognized as the No. 1 Golden Brand in the Nutrition category. Our products are designed with care to meet specific needs of infants and young children who are not breastfed, in line with international guidelines, laws and scientific evidence. This acknowledgement from Georgian consumers reaffirms that we are on the right path, consistently delivering only safe, high-quality, and trusted nutrition solutions that our consumers trust.
Q. Nestlé has been operating in Georgia for nearly two decades. How has the Georgian market evolved during this time in terms of parents’ expectations and awareness around infant nutrition?
A. Nestlé’s core philosophy has remained unchanged: we believe that breastfeeding is the ideal start for infants and fully support the World Health Organization’s recommendation on exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, followed by the introduction of appropriate complementary foods while continuing breastfeeding up to two years and beyond.
Today, Georgian parents demonstrate a deeper understanding of the benefits of breastfeeding and the role of complementary foods. They are more informed about product composition, nutritional value, and scientific recommendations, and—with a broader range of choices available—they can select the most suitable products based on guidance from healthcare professionals.
Q. What are the key priorities for Nestlé in Georgia when it comes to ensuring the quality and safety of baby food products?
A. The health of infants is of prime concern for us. For this reason, quality and safety are at the heart of everything we do at Nestlé. Our leadership in infant nutrition is built on an unwavering commitment to strict quality standards, advanced scientific expertise, and decades of global experience. Our rigorous quality-control systems—applied from raw material sourcing to final packaging— and our extended quality protocols help ensure the highest standards. At Nestlé we never compromise on quality and safety of our products.
Q. Georgian parents are increasingly attentive to ingredients and nutritional value. How does Nestlé adapt its global standards to meet both World Health Organization guidelines and local regulatory requirements?
A. Nestlé places a strong emphasis on product safety and quality, ensuring that our global standards fully align with both WHO guidance and local Georgian regulations. We implement robust quality control procedures at every stage of production, maintain full transparency across our supply chain, and ensure that our products meet the highest international and national safety requirements.
This approach allows us to offer products that give parents confidence in the choices they make.
Q. Nestlé Georgia offers a diverse portfolio of infant cereals, fruit and vegetable purees, and ready-to-eat meals. How do you decide which products and flavors to introduce to the Georgian market?
A. Nestlé offers a broad portfolio of children’s nutrition products in Georgia—from infant formulas to cereals, purees, and ready‑to‑eat meals—under brands such as NESTOGEN®, NAN®, and GERBER®. Our decisions on which products to introduce rely on scientific research, nutritional needs of children at each stage of their development, feedback from healthcare professionals, and insights into local consumer preferences.
We ensure that our offerings comply with WHO guidance and Georgian regulatory requirements, while giving families access to a wide range of high‑quality options.
Q. Accessibility is an important factor for families. How does Nestlé manage to maintain high international standards while offering products across different price segments in Georgia?
A. While Nestlé provides products across different price segments to ensure affordability, the level of quality remains consistently high. All our products—regardless of price—are produced according to the same strict global standards.
This approach enables healthcare professionals and parents to choose the product that best suits their needs without compromising on quality or product safety.
Q. Does Nestlé implement any educational or awareness initiatives in Georgia to support parents in making informed decisions about infant and young child nutrition?
A. Nestlé supports and protects the practice of breastfeeding in its activities and strictly adheres to the requirements of the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (WHO Code).
Our initiatives promote breastfeeding, and in our communication with HCPs we focus on providing them with scientific, evidence-based information on infant and young child nutrition so that HCPs could inform parents about benefits of breastfeeding and guide them in making informed decisions.
Q. How does Nestlé collaborate with local partners, distributors, or healthcare professionals to strengthen its presence and trust within the Georgian community?
A.
Nestlé collaborates closely with local distributors, retailers, and healthcare professionals to strengthen trust and ensure responsible communication in Georgia. Our long-term partnerships allow us to maintain high standards of product availability, supply chain reliability, and professional engagement.
With healthcare professionals, we work strictly within WHO Code principles, providing scientific information and supporting continuous medical education. This collaborative approach helps us better understand the needs of Georgian families and deliver solutions that meet their expectations.
Q. Looking ahead, what are Nestlé’s strategic priorities in Georgia for the children’s nutrition segment over the next few years?
A. Nestlé’s strategic priority in Georgia is to remain the leading brand in the children’s nutrition category by consistently delivering high quality products and ensuring broad accessibility across all key retail channels. We will continue to focus on innovation, scientific leadership, and responsible marketing aligned with WHO guidelines.
